I did some research before purchasing these speakers, mostly through reading other's reviews of these and other outdoor speakers on Amazon and other forums. I have to admit a bit of a bias toward BA speakers, as I have several types scattered around my house. I tend to like their presence and even nature, even though the bookshelf and ceiling speakers tend to be a bit light in the bottom waste (which is expected anyway) .
These speakers primarily befriend a 20'x20' patio and a larger aid yard unhurried it. For the past few years, I've feeble a pair of Niles OS-6 outdoor speakers. Niles has always gotten substantial reviews for their outdoor speakers, but I accept them to emphasize the midrange too great without a lot of bottom demolish. To me, they have always sounded muddy and "boomy", and the high slay does not project enough out into the yard. While I've read that the newer OS series is an improvement, I'm hesitant to utilize the money there, as they don't seem to suit my ear.
Among the BA outdoor speakers, the Voyager 7 seems to be the gold standard, with a lot of presence and resounding bass. I was not involved in spending the money on the 7's, so I gave the 6's a shot without hearing them and reading only one review specifically about them. I first connected to my basement system to give an initial listen, and was very impressed by their omnipresent sound; they project very well, but almost in an unnatural intention inside a closed situation. What I mean by that is that the imaging is very wide, with an almost 3-D spatial enact. I don't normally request such a wide image, particularly with music, and so I was thrown off a bit, despite having read about this characteristic in the review. Nonetheless, the Voyagers have a rich a fleshy tone, covering a tremendous frequency spectrum.
It is outdoors that these speakers absolutely shine! The wide imaging honest explodes outside, sending quality sound everywhere. These speakers project very well. I was jumpy of a veteran bottom waste, mostly due to gracious reviews of the Voyager 7's implying they were the only Voyager speakers to provide bass. I am delighted to record that the 6's have tall bass. Even my wife, who does not pay too remarkable attention to the audio in our house, commented about what an improvement the BA's are over the Niles speakers. They are feeble exclusively for music, covering a variety of styles including jazz, rock, pop, flamenco, classical and oldies.
Overall, I am very pleased with this occupy. The speakers are tubby and rich, hide a mammoth frequency spectrum, and have grand dynamics, imaging and presence. The music is inviting but not artificially emphasized. I would recommend them to anyone.
I bought these after hearing a smaller Voyager version (voyager 4 I mediate) at Circuit City. As usual I didn't remove them from CC and continued my research online for better pricing. When I saw the 7's for under $200 (scratch and dent or return? ) I jumped on it. I've had the speakers installed under the eave of my support deck for about a year now. Astounding sound! These are some of the best speakers, indoor or out, that I have ever heard. If you can secure the same deal as me go for it. I have no conception why they were so inexpensive, they were in perfect condition in the generous packaging, etc.
